lovehappens.com, linkedzone.com - more social networking site

[Note: Some of my related popular posts are: 1) why mistakes are often mistaken - It talks about what are real mistakes. 2) Orkut used for crime, is orkut responsible for it anyway? ]

After doing a scrutiny on wink.com I got another invitation from another social networking site. Gosh! I am sure now we need a complete directory (Hedir guys do something, Help!) to list all these social networking sites. This time it is with a weird name lovehappens.com. Thats not all, in last 24 hrs I got another invitation, one from linkedzone.com. I haven’t even opened these sites to explore it. I am sure good rain has started causing bad flood. I have already tagged tagged.com for crossing the line.

I wish I could ask them following question?

  • Why you exist?
  • How are you better than orkut?
  • Is there anything in you that orkut can’t copy or develop? If they can, I am sure they will, why should I shift my base then?

    I would like to answer your questions on behalf of Linkedzone.com. First I would like to clarify that Linkedzone is not at all a social networking site. It’s a professional networking site, so comparing it with orkut and similar sites would be wrong. Still my replies are:

    1. We exist to provide a professional networking platform that can be used and leveraged by people in order to explore career opportunities.

    2. We provide a completely different set of features and services which are not comparable to orkut. We provide you a way to explore jobs and other opportunities through your trusted network of people.

    3. As an example, we have a feature where you can post jobs for your own company and people in your network will get to know about it instantly. I am sure orkut is not at all focussed towards jobs.

    I would be happy to answer many more questions!

    Do you mean an email notification for each job posting? Certainly orkut is one of its own kind which is a part of our day to day activities.

    If I ask you this, please define your service in one sentence which can convince us that linkedzone.com is needed for our global village, just one sentence not more than 100-200 characters.

    Here are my replies

    Our business model is such that in long term you wont see many Indian jobs on Linkedin. That in turn will mean that for a user one of the main purpose of having a professional network is not solved. Linkedzone solves this problem. Plus we have a certain unique set of features ( some already there and some in the pipeline ) which sets us apart from Linkedin.

    If you choose to recieve such notifications, yes. Whenever you login to the site you will see ” Jobs in your network”.

    I would encourage you to dig deeper and ask any more questions you have. :)
